Students must meet admission requirements prior to acceptance, which will be reviewed during the application process.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

After successful completion of the course and clinical practica, you will then be eligible to sit for the National Health-Career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.

¾Ã¾Ã¸£Àû¹ú²ú’s bachelors of science in Human Services features a curriculum that produces dynamic graduates and career-ready employees. We offer a wide range of human services courses allowing students to pursue their specific interests in the field.

In addition to learning in the classroom, human services students are required to complete an internship, allowing them to get the real-world experience they need to succeed in their careers after graduation.

The need for qualified phlebotomists continues to grow with the industry expected to grow by 22% over the next 10 years. With a certificate from Lackawanna, students can work in a variety of healthcare industries including physician offices, hospitals, nursing homes and other locations.

More About the Program

Phlebotomists are health professionals who draw blood from patients for diagnostic, therapeutic or donation purposes and are responsible for preparing patients and obtaining high-quality specimens for transport to the lab.

Phlebotomists must have good manual dexterity, excellent communication skills, great organizational skills and a good knowledge of lab specimen requirements and departmental policies.

After completing our phlebotomy technician program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association’s (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam.

The Course Work

Before being accepted and taking any phlebotomy courses, students must meet certain admission conditions, which will be reviewed during the application process. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Lackawanna’s phlebotomy technician training consists of a combined total of 190 class/lab hours. Upon completing the coursework, students will then be placed in a clinical externship consisting of obtaining a minimum of 100 documented venipunctures and 10 dermal punctures in a clinical setting.

While earning your phlebotomy certification, you can expect concentrated learning of field-related topics, some of which include:

At Lackawanna, you can complete the Conservation & Natural Resource Certificate program in as little as 16 weeks during the fall semester, with a practical curriculum that helps you apply your skills and knowledge in the real world.

Students will complete five undergraduate-level field biology courses. Along with coursework, students also receive hands-on field training at over a dozen ecologically unique locations in our region.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in the basic principles of conservation from courses designed to develop your knowledge of northeastern United States flora and fauna as well as the recreational use of renewable and non-renewable resources.

Students interested in becoming park rangers are strongly encouraged to take the ¾Ã¾Ã¸£Àû¹ú²ú Police Academy 943-hour MPOETC ACT 120 training. This qualifies you for positions in law enforcement ranger positions and municipal police departments.

The Course Work

All Conservation & Natural Resource Certificate program courses meet once a week for three hours. Some of the areas of study include:

  • Park Management & Environmental Interpretation
