The human services field is expected to grow by 17% over the next 10 years, which means trained aides are needed. There are a number of different situations that can cause someone to require social services, all of which need workers trained to do that unique work.

Some of the areas graduates can work as aides include:

With an associate degree, graduates enter the workforce immediately and work as an aide or they can continue on to obtain a Bachelor鈥檚 degree from Lackawanna in Human Services.

More About the Program

Lackawanna鈥檚 curriculum is designed to teach students the knowledge and skills necessary to work with people in various helping relationships. Students in this program will study topics in philosophy, sociology and psychology so they can effectively assist others in challenging situations.

The Human Services Associate degree is also offered as one of our Accelerated Part-Time Programs. This allows students to study part time, while still allowing them to graduate with an associate degree in just over two years.

久久福利国产鈥檚 bachelors of science in Human Services features a curriculum that produces dynamic graduates and career-ready employees. We offer a wide range of human services courses allowing students to pursue their specific interests in the field.

In addition to learning in the classroom, human services students are required to complete an internship, allowing them to get the real-world experience they need to succeed in their careers after graduation.

Students enrolled in the human services major will take advantage of the same unparalleled academic and extracurricular services that are hallmarks of the College鈥檚 history in northeastern Pennsylvania. Students are introduced to the stages of intellectual, emotional and social development of an individual as he/she/they move through childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age.

This major familiarizes students with recognized exceptionalities in individual development and with group pathologies that affect our society. Students learn how and why certain counseling theories and techniques lead to interventions that markedly improve the psycho-social lives of individuals and families.

Students are required to complete more than 200 internship hours designed to provide experiential work and practical education.

In the human service field, students will provide solutions to complicated situations and challenges that can vary greatly. To help prepare our students, we offer a wide-range of courses that cover all of the skills that are required in this field.
